 2011-2012 School Calendar                                                    SCROLL

Our VFW friends from the down the street visited Casa, as they have on previous occasions, to instruct and inspire our elementary children. James Ellis led a group of six veterans for the occasion. Als, this vist was on September 10th, an appropriate time to memorialize the horrendous 9-11 attack. Over the weekend, the school flew the US flag at half-mast to honor those killed in the attack. The theme of their presentation was etiquette of the Stars and Stripes - the respectful way to display and store the American flag. Veterans Charlie Stephenson and Carl Ryan demonstrated the proper way to lower the flag, fold it for storage, and then to raise it. Carl provided an excellent narration during this process. After the flag activities, the VFW members spoke of their service to the country and answered questions from the students. The Casa staff wishes to thank the VFW for their continuing contributions of education and inspiration to our students. All of us, the staff and parents, also wish to express our gratitude to the VFW for the generous sharing of their parking facilities.

School Closings

Check the Casa website, TV Station WSB (Channel 2 on Comcast) or Radio Station WSB AM750 for information regarding whether Casa Montessori will be open or closed for the day. If Casa is open during inclement weather, parents should use their best judgment as to whether their child should attend on that day.

Carpool General Guidelines:
No cell phone use during carpool. They are a distraction!!!
You may unbuckle your child fromhis/her car seat, but please have your child remain in the seat until the teacher opens your car door And remember, children are never allowed to get out of the car on their own. A teacher must open the door and will hold their hand while in the carpool area.

Morning carpool times:
All Elem 8:15 8:30am
Primary 8:30am 8:45am
Midday carpool times: 11:50am 12:05pm
Afternoon carpool: Primary 2:45pm 2:55pm
Elem 3:00pm 3:10pm

Do not change lanes, even if you are having to wait on the car in front of you. There are too many children and teachers walking in and around the cars during carpool. Please be patient!!!!!
This is why we ask that there be very limited conversation with the teachers at carpool....it holds the line up.
