Clothing Options for Elementary Students

To better assist you in making clothing choices for the school year, the elementary has completed a list of appropriate clothing options from which you may choose. If you are unsure, please lean toward the more modest choice.

For girls, acceptable choices are: 1. Loose fitting jeans and slacks, sweat-type pants, capris, and fingertip length shorts. 2. Shirts and tops must fit without showing bare midriff during indoor and outdoor activities. 3. Skirts and dresses with shorts underneath for outdoor activities. 4. Gym-style shoes, flat style fashion sandals or sneakers.

Unacceptable choices for girls are: 1. Soffee style shorts, exercise or bike shorts.

2. Low rise, hip-hugger type jeans, slacks or shorts 3. See-through, tight or formfitting tops or blouses including tight spandex tops, bare midriffs, spaghetti straps, low-cut or backless tops, or sleeveless tops with extra wide arm holes. 4. Any platform style shoes, including sandals or fashion sneakers, jellies, beach flip-flops. Also, elementary school is not the place for face make-up, acrylic type nails or hair extensions.

For boys, acceptable choices are: 1. Jeans, slacks, sweatpants, appropriate length shorts.

2. Shirts and tops 3. Gym-type shoes (basketball, tennis)

Unacceptable choices for boys are: 1. Extremely wide jeans. 2. Underwear visible above the pant waist. 3. Shirts and tops must fit appropriately without exposing midriff during indoor or outdoor activities. 4. Hats or headscarves.

SPECIAL NOTE: All elementary students will need to wear a closed, athletic gym style shoe daily for outdoor activities. Fashion sneakers, mule style sneakers or hiking boots are not acceptable. A pair may be brought daily or kept at school to change into at the appropriate time.

Please remember when purchasing backpacks for school that we cannot accommodate roller type backpacks. There is not enough space for those with internal or external frames.
